Functional genomics reveal that the serine synthesis pathway is essential in breast cancer

In revealing that increased serine pathway flux caused by PHGDH overexpression in certain breast cancers, authors used Oncomine data to determine overexpression as well as identifying genes whose expression is significantly associated with the transformed state and advanced breast cancer. Authors employed several analyses types as well as sample metadata to narrow their list of genes (normal vs. primary tumor analyses, ER- vs. ER+ tumors, grade 3 vs. grade 1 or 2 tumors, basal vs. epithelial morphology, and survival analyses).
